Abstract

Comorbidity refers to the presence of two or more coexisting disorders within an individual. This study offers a comprehensive review of the existing literature on comorbidity, focusing on the co-occurrence of psychiatric and medical conditions in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across different stages of life—including infancy, childhood, and adulthood. Specific comorbid conditions explored include attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), epilepsy, gastrointestinal issues, sleep disturbances, feeding difficulties, and toileting challenges.
